We did two rounds of designing, building, and testing. The first round we gave them aluminum foil and tape to build a boat with. They first had to draw their design. After testing their boat to see how many pennies their boat could hold, the kids had to redesign their aluminum foil boat. After their second trial, we gave them cardboard, wax paper and tape to make another design. This activity can take as long as needed, we were still testing after an hour. The kids were really excited to test their designs. The activity went well and the kids were about to learn about buoyancy.
