Spark Upgrade Page

Starting at 10pm on Sunday June 28th, 2009 the Spark wiki tool will undergo an upgrade to Confluence version 2.9. This also necessitates an upgrade to a newer version of the Theme Builder wiki customization tool.

These upgrades are absolutely necessary to ensure that we stay current within the Confluence support model and to ensure that we are up to date with security patches.

Feature Changes

We have been thoroughly testing our current version of Spark Wikis alongside this new version and we are confident that all existing wiki features are intact and working correctly.

Confluence 2.9 comes with additional features and enhancements to existing ones. You can see a summary of these changes on the Confluence 2.9 Release Notes page.

Interface Changes

The changes that wiki users will see immediately are changes in the wiki's default interface and in the Theme Builder editor.

Default Interface Changes

Browse menu

The 'Browse' menu gives you access to:

Space-wide views of the content of the space — pages, news, labels, attachments, bookmarks and mail.
Summary information about the space.
Advanced space management tools.
Tools to administer the space (for space administrators only).
Directory of users

User menu

After you have logged in, your name will appear at top right of the screen. The 'User' menu appears when your cursor hovers over your name. The menu allows you to log out, access your user profile or view your editing history, personal labels and page watches. You can also retrieve drafts of pages you are editing. You can access your other wikis under "My Wikis" and the Spark Wikis help page under "Help".

Edit button

The 'Edit' button allows you to edit this page either in rich text or wiki markup

Add Menu

The 'Add' menu allows you to add things to a page or space. You can add pages, news, and bookmarks, as well as comments and attachments.

Tools Menu

The 'Tools' menu contains miscellaneous actions relating to the page. You can view attachments and the page history. You can tag the page as your favorite or watch the page. You can view page information or its wiki markup. You can also export the page to pdf or word formats, making it easy to print. You can also copy, move and remove the page.

Theme Builder Interface Changes

The Theme Builder editor has changed significantly. We will be updating our Theme Builder documentation over the next few days. In the meantime you can review the changes on the Theme Builder web site.
