Welcome to Tufts Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Center. The GIS Center is a teaching and research facility funded, maintained, and supported by University Information Technology (UIT) to promote and facilitate GIS, remote sensing, cartography, and geographic research and analysis.
The GIS Center is equipped with a range of specialized hardware and software to enable users to input, analyze, and display spatial data. It is staffed with senior GIS staff and student lab assistants to aid GIS users from across the University. The GIS Center offers a wide range of services to Tufts students, faculty, and staff. Please see GIS Center Services for a complete description.
Access to the GIS Center is restricted to Tufts faculty, students, and staff who have applied for and been granted a GIS Center user account. Students and faculty may obtain user accounts for the GIS Center, providing that they intend to use the lab resources for GIS purposes only. Allowing others to sign in using your account is prohibited. User accounts provide all of the GIS resources listed above and 1 gb of personal network storage that is backed up on a nightly basis. To obtain an account, please read the GIS Center Policy and complete the GIS Center Account Request Form and return it to the address indicated.
Cell phone use is prohibited in the GIS Center.
Classes and workshops must register at least two weeks in advance to reserve the lab. Please register before the beginning of the term if possible. Contact Patrick Florance with reservations.
