Sponsored by University Information Technology (UIT), and in close collaboration with colleagues across Tufts University, the Faculty Information Technology Liaison Program provides robust conduits of communication between representatives from UIT and faculty liaisons from academic departments.
These conduits of communication enable department faculty both to learn in a systematic way about available technology services and also to inform their UIT representatives about the strategic educational, research, and administrative technology goals of the department. Information provided by the program also helps build a broad understanding of departmental technology goals across participating schools and thereby contributes to faculty IT agenda setting.
Program Goals:
The Faculty IT Liaison Program has two goals:
- To strengthen communication and connection between department faculty and University Information Technology.
- To facilitate planning for technology service improvements informed by the goals of Tufts departments.
Distinct from the direct computer support provided by other units at Tufts, the Faculty IT Liaison Program is designed to gather and share information and to leverage university-wide IT services. Recognizing this functional distinction, the program has established and will maintain close connections with colleagues in other units in order to ensure that the program enriches the overall climate of technology services at Tufts. The program also meets regularly with library colleagues to build best practices, share information, and develop the most complete picture possible of technology goals across the participating schools.
