- If only a few microfilm reels or fiche are wet, gently dry them with a clean, non-abrasive cloth, and place on a flat surface, or hang on a line to dry.
- If there are many, immerse the film and fiche in a trashcan (or bucket or garbage bag) filled with cold water. Contact a microfilming processing vendor immediately. See Microfilm Recovery and Salvage
- Once wet, film and fiche need to be rewashed by a vendor and dried within 72 hours.
